How it Works:
1. What do you have to do to install the Tandem Rack?
a. Mount the Universal Receiver on the seat post of the front bike using two standard 6 mm hex bolts supplied.

b. Mount the ball joint bracket on the trailing bike head tube using supplied u-bolt.

c. Snap the Tandem Rack unit into the Universal Receiver.

2. What do you have to do to connect?

Pull out the link bar, hand turn the lock nuts, snap on the ball joint. Ready to ride!
3. How does the "out of alignment release" work?

The link bar is attached by tabs to the connection on the end of the Tandem Rack which has a corresponding ridge. The ridge ends at the point where the link bar rotates about 75 degrees on either side. When that happens, the link bar simply lets go because there is no ridge to grip.
4. How does the disconnect work if the back bike falls?

The connection to the trailing bike is a ball joint connection with special features. It is made to take an enormous amount of axial load (along the line of the link bar), but to take virtually no load when rotated. That means if the rotation of one bike in relation to another changes significantly (for instance if the back bike falls), it will cause the ball joint connection to release.
5. How does the sliding tube work?

Since no two bikes will almost never go exactly the same speed at any time, they will move back and forth in relation to each other slightly, even when traveling at about the same speed. The Tandem Rack allows this by permitting the end tube to travel back and forth about six inches to dissipate these destabilizing forces. At both ends of the travel are dampening springs so if one bike changes speed abruptly, the impact is reduced to the other bike. This patent pending technology gives both riders a smooth and stable ride.
6. How do you remove the Tandem Rack if you want to ride without it or attach other accessories?

Simply release the quick connect handle, push the snap button and pull the Tandem Rack out of the Universal Receiver.
To add an accessory is just the opposite - depress the snap button, slide the tube into the Universal Receiver and engage the quick connect handle.
